SYCODE Ships CATIA V4, V5 File Export Plug-ins

sycode-logo SYCODE has released CATIA V4 and V5 file export plug-ins for AutoCAD and SolidWorks. These plug-ins give AutoCAD and SolidWorks the ability to export 3D solid data in AutoCAD and SolidWorks to CATIA V4 and V5 files without the need of a CATIA license installed on the computer or network.

"The four plug-ins released today complement our existing CATIA V4 and V5 file import plug-ins for AutoCAD and SolidWorks,” explains Deelip Menezes, Founder and CEO of SYCODE. "When using these export plug-ins with our existing import plug-ins AutoCAD and SolidWorks users can now read as well as write 3D data from and to CATIA V4 and V5 files thereby being able to perform a complete round trip.”

Exchanging data using neutral file formats like IGES and STEP can sometimes cause problems due to inaccuracies in two step conversions: one from the source format to neutral and the other from the neutral format to the destination format. Moreover, neutral formats like IGES have many variants thereby making their accuracy dependent upon the flavor of IGES that is used. For these reasons many companies prefer to receive data back in the format that they sent it out. These plug-ins will assume critical importance in situations where AutoCAD and SolidWorks users wish to work with users of CATIA V4 and V5.

The AutoCAD plug-ins have been tested to work with AutoCAD 2000 through to 2010, 32 bit as well as 64 bit. The SolidWorks add-ins have been tested to work with the 32 bit as well as the 64 bit versions of SolidWorks 2001 through to 2010. All the plug-ins are available as a fully functional trials. They come with installers and detailed documentation in the form of compiled HTML help files which contains step-by-step tutorials to get end users started in the shortest possible time.

ITI TranscenData Releases CADIQ 6.1

ITI-Transcen-logo ITI TranscenData announced today the release of CADIQ 6.1, the latest edition of its leading CAD model validation application that identifies model-based design issues that adversely impact downstream processes, such as tooling, simulation and manufacturing.

Engineers tasked with long-term data retention and archival initiatives use CADIQ to certify translations and conversions for 3D CAD models prior to archival, through geometry and semantics-based validation.  CADIQ validates 3D models, assemblies, corresponding features and product manufacturing information (i.e. 3D PMI, GD&T, FT&A) against the source data, and provides automated predictive diagnostics.  These diagnostics are used to identify, forecast and troubleshoot legacy conversion issues.

CADIQ is packaged for use in desktop or server environments, is easily integrated into design release and check-in and check-out processes of PLM workflows, and can be embedded in interoperability automations solutions.

The release of CADIQ 6.1 offers many new developments, such as:

  • Direct Assembly Model Comparison
No flattening required for CATIA V5, NX, Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks, Parasolid and STEP component placement and properties comparison
  • Part Comparison Diagnostics
Feature parameter diagnostic for model revisions in the same CAD system
  • 3D PMI Comparison Diagnostics
STEP “PMI as Polyline” only for model revisions in the same CAD system
  • CATIA V4 CAD File Interface
For indirect V4 model analysis, No CATIA V4 installation/license prerequisite on Windows and UNIX platforms
  • STEP Validation Property Quality Diagnostics
  • Improved Batch Analysis and Statistics

"The latest enhancements in CADIQ 6.1 set it apart from all other CAD validation tools on the market," said Doug Cheney, CADIQ Product Manager. “Most tools only verify design reuse for design – enforcing modeling conventions. CADIQ goes a step further, validating MBD models for downstream reuse – at design release and through any format conversion in the lifecycle. When quality issues are identified, CADIQ can document engineering change revisions in a 3D PDF file for easy communication, collaboration, and markup.”

The new product release is available immediately worldwide and current CADIQ customers can easily upgrade to version 6.1.

SYCODE Releases CATIA V4 and V5 File Import Plug-ins for AutoCAD

sycode-logo SYCODE has released CATIA V4 and V5 file import plug-ins for AutoCAD. These plug-ins allow users to import CATIA V4 and V5 part and assembly files into AutoCAD without the need of a CATIA license on the computer or network.

"Over the past few releases Autodesk has been morphing AutoCAD from a 2D drafting and documentation solution to a 3D modeling and analysis one,” explains Deelip Menezes, Founder and CEO of SYCODE. "However, for AutoCAD customers to fully harness the power of 3D they not only need to be able to create 3D models from scratch in AutoCAD but also be able to edit 3D solid models created in other CAD systems. CATIA is widely used in the aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding and related industries. We believe our CATIA V4 and V5 import plug-ins for AutoCAD will go a long way in helping AutoCAD users exchange data effectively with CATIA users by not having to rely on neutral file formats for data exchange.”

The plug-ins released today are called CATIA V4 Import for AutoCAD and CATIA V5 Import for AutoCAD. The V4 plug-in can read CATIA V4 part and assembly (.model), export (.exp) and session (.session) files from CATIA 4.1.9 to CATIA 4.2.4.
